Melody Scott is the dean of students. She supervises the counseling center, spiritual formation office, campus safety, residence life, multicultural services and student activities.

Aviso: Where is your favorite place to vacation?

Scott: England. I lived in England and Scotland for almost four years. So, that’s usually my go to when I travel and go away to visit people. And I love England.

Aviso: Chocolate or vanilla?

Scott: Ohh, chocolate.

Aviso: Winter or summer?

Scott: Summer.

Aviso: What’s your favorite summer activity?

Scott: Probably, sitting out some place in the sunshine near water reading a book, but I love seeing new places too and making sure I get the most out of different countries. I do a lot of service work during the summer, which I really enjoy.

Aviso: Beach or mountains?

Scott: I think the beach. I would have said, “Can I have both somehow?” I think, probably, I really do enjoy the water, but I love the kind of quiet seclusion of the mountains too. But I think the older I get, the more I enjoy the warmth and water.

Aviso: Where did you grow up?

Scott: I grew up, actually, just about 45 minutes from here in Beloit, which is near Alliance and Salem. I have lived a lot

of different places.

Aviso: Is there anything else you would like us to know?

Scott: I think one of my favorite pastimes is living with students in community because I think that students really are full of passion and ideas and I think it makes me sharpened as a result of working with students. I love higher education and working with students.
