Aviso: How long have you been working at Malone, and what brought you here?
Geosits: Well, I’m starting my twelfth year, and actually I worked at a flower shop. My friend works in the office [here] and she called me and said, “Are you really wanting to find another job?” and I said, “Yes.” [She said] “Well, you could probably come here, because the cashier walked out.” So I came the next day, and the rest is history.
Aviso: What else did you do before coming to Malone?
Geosits: Well, that’s been my main job, working in a flower shop. I went to school to learn about flower arranging and I took a break while I was having my kids and stayed home.
Aviso: What is the funniest thing you have witnessed while swiping cards?
Geosits: Once there was a bat in here and one of the maintenance guys killed it with a tray. I’d say that was probably way up there.
Aviso: What is the best AVI dessert?
Geosits: Well, I’m a cookie lover and I’m also a cake lover, so I love those cupcakes and the molasses cookies.
Aviso: If you could only eat one of AVI’s main dishes for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Geosits: Well, I don’t eat meat anymore, so that’s hard for me. The pulled chicken was really good though.
Aviso: If you could take classes at Malone, what would you study?
Geosits: I could use a lot of knowledge in many different areas. I took French in high school, and here they have Spanish, so I guess I would like to learn how to speak Spanish.
Aviso: What do you love most about the fall season?
Geosits: The changing of the trees… the only thing I don’t like about it is that I know what’s coming next.
Aviso: What do you do when you’re not at work?
Geosits: Well, I started running, and I’m a scrapbooker, so I do that a lot… and I like to play euchre. I like to cook. I guess I like a lot of things, but mostly running lately.
Aviso: What is one fun fact about you that the student body doesn’t know?
Geosits: I’m the secretary of the Northeast Ohio Parrothead Club. That’s Jimmy Buffet’s fan club.
Aviso: What is one really awesome thing you have seen God do in your life recently?
Geosits: Well, actually, at the exercise class I go to, we always pray before. I had fallen and really hurt my knee and it swelled up several times, I had to keep getting it drained; it was very painful. We started praying about it – now it’s gone.
Aviso: What do you love most about working here?
Geosits: That’s hard… the students, for one thing, and the atmosphere, the people… everything is nice here.
