Aviso: Where did you go to college?

Leon:  I was a student here, graduated in ’93.

Aviso:  When did you begin your career at Malone?

Leon:   In 1995, I came back here when Jeff was an RD.  We worked with an organization called the CCO (Coalition for Christian Outreach).  My first two years back here I worked sort of free-lance campus ministries until 97.

Aviso:  What brought you to Malone?

Leon:  I was interested in helping people’s life in leading them in the direction to find God.

Aviso:  What is your job at Malone?

Leon:  The Director of Spiritual Formation.  I oversee the Chapel program.  I work with Tim Longbrake to put together three or four Chapels a week.  I also oversee campus Bible study mentoring programs.  I help oversee the office. I help people understand how to do Bible studies.  Another important part of my job is overseeing the student Director of Spiritual Formation as well as the “Celebration” student fellowship.  These are a great student ministries and I’m honored to be working with these students.

Aviso:  What do you look forward to most this year?

Leon:  The thing I love most about my job is helping students make connections, understanding who God is, seeing the light bulb go on, and how faith connects with the rest of their life.

Aviso:  What are some hobbies of yours?

Leon:  I love to hang out with my family.  I love to watch movies.  I love to watch really good television shows; right now we’re watching Homeland.  I like to read.  I enjoy making crafts.  But right now I’m a doctoral student so I don’t really have time.

Aviso:  How many kids do you have?

Leon:  I have two.  A 13 year old girl and 11 year old boy.

Aviso:  Browns or Steelers fan?

Leon:  I’m a Steelers fan.  My dad is from Pittsburgh, so I was raised right.

Aviso:  What is your favorite sport?

Leon:  Basketball, hands down.  I played basketball for a long time and it is sort of been in my blood for a long time.

Aviso:  Favorite Bible verse and why?

Leon:  Right now, it is Proverbs 3, 5, and 6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.  And lean not on your own understanding.  And in all ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.”   This is because I need to remember that God is in control of the world and not me.  So I need to trust in him and lean on him because he knows what’s best, so I’ve been working on that.
