Pedigree: This week’s Pioneer Focus is awarded to sophomore swimmer Bartosz Zarzecki for his contributions to the men’s swimming and diving team’s second victory of the season. The Pioneers defeated Edinboro (PA) University Nov.1 with a score of 123-74. Zarzecki took first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.32 seconds. He was also a member of the 200 medley relay unit who posted a winning time of 1:37.43. Zarzecki finished his day by scoring more points with finishing second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.35.

Q: Favorite aspect about swimming?
A: I think the best thing is during the meet you can check yourself and see that you are doing a good job. You work hard in practices, but it’s great to put up your best times against other guys.
Q: Favorite food at Thanksgiving?
A: We don’t have Thanksgiving in my country so it’s difficult to say, but I like pumpkin pie.
Q: Turkey or ham?
A: In the U.S it’s turkey, but in Poland I’d choose ham.
Q: If you could be a cartoon character, who would you choose and why?
A: Stewie from the Family Guy because he’s so freaking funny. I also talk like him when it comes to joking around and stuff.

A: Burger King

A: Space Jam

Q: If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?
A: Flying; just to be like a bird and don’t care about the world or anything and fly around.

A: I’m actually not using either of those.

Q: Someone who has inspired you? Why?
A: My dad because he is in his 40’s competing in triathlons. Me, I’m twenty, and he’s forty and he’s doing the same thing as me and even more. This guy is the best; he’s working, traveling, and doing the triathlon.
Q: If you could switch your life with one person for a day, who would it be and why?
A: Michael Phelps, he’s a successful swimmer and I would like to feel what he felt during the Olympic Games winning all those medals.
Q: Something you would like to achieve before you graduate?
A: To get the green card and stay here in the U.S. I want to get a job here, maybe an internship.
Q: Where do you see yourself in ten years?
A: I see me in a big city like Miami or Los Angeles. I want a house next to the city to train, have fun, and enjoy my life.
