Senate Notebook is a regular news feature with the goal to keep students up to date on what Student Senate is up to. Senate meets every Wednesday at 9 p.m. in the Brehme Conference Center. Guests are welcome to attend.
Resident director of food services Chris Wisbey was a guest at Senate’s January 22 meeting. He reviewed many of the recent changes AVI Food Systems
has made in the dining hall, such as bringing in new, more “trendy” dishes to add to the menu, and hinted at a few upcoming changes. A new baker has just been hired. Also, Platinum Chef will be hosted on campus this year, bringing in teams from several other schools to compete.
In an earlier meeting, concern was expressed about the large crack in the window of the Writing Center in the library. Director of administration Ezra Tkach looked into it and discovered that the crack was caused by the recent temperature fluctuations. A new window has already been ordered and the broken window will be replaced as soon as it arrives.
Another recently expressed concern is the desire for a study area on campus, outside of the dorms, that is open 24/7 and has a printer. Student body president Mike Terry contacted technology services coordinator Adam Klemann and is currently in discussion about the issue.
