Pedigree: This week’s Pioneer Focus will be going to sophomore swimmer Bartosz Zarzecki. Zarzecki is currently ranked first in the GLIAC conference and 6th nationally throughout Division II in the breaststroke. Zarzecki has also played a major role in the team’s success this year as he has won most of his breaststroke races. Zarzecki and the team’s next meet will be February 12th-15th at the GLIAC championship.

Single or Dating: I have a girlfriend right now.
Q: What’s a nice valentine gift that you are hoping to receive?
A: I am waiting on a letter and a picture from my girlfriend.
Q: Chocolate or candy?
A: Chocolate, something like Nutella.
Q: Hobby of yours?
A: I don’t really have a hobby; I’m always around a pool.
Q: Cats or dogs?

Q: What do you put into your sport?
A: I put in a lot of work. It’s more to doing the motion than people think. You have to be disciplined to really want to do it, and you also have to be strategic. You need to know how much power and speed you’re supposed to use at a certain amount of time to really win a race.

A: No chapel, if you believe then you believe.
Q: PlayStation or Xbox?
Q: What teammates inspire you?
A: To be honest, my inspiration comes from my father and my girlfriend more than anything.
Q: What’s a major swimming goal for you?
A: To swim in the Olympics like every other competitor wants.
Q: What superhero would you want to be?
Q: In 5 years, where do you see yourself?
A: I would like to stay here with my girlfriend who wants to move here. I don’t want to go back to Poland; I like the States.
Q: The biggest difference between US and Poland?
A: The people are different. The people here are more generous and more open. Polish people are selfish and rude.
Q:What’s a secret talent that no one knows about you?
A: I don’t know, if it’s a secret it’s a secret right?
