Pedigree: This week’s Pioneer Focus goes to freshman golfer Kaitlyn Brant for her recent success at the Wasioto Wind’s Golf course. Brant led the Pioneers to a third place finish out of five teams. Brant was the individual runner-up, finishing at 163 (79-84).

Q: What’s your major?
A: Exercise Science & Pre-Physical Therapy
Q: Where did you go to high school?
A: Lincoln view in Van Wert, OH (a tiny town/school in the middle of a bunch of cornfields)
Q: When did you begin playing golf?
A: My freshman year of high school.
Q: What got you interested in golf?
A: My dad is really into golf, so he really pushed me to start playing.
Q: What’s your favorite aspect about golf at Malone?
A: My team. They are an awesome group of girls, and we always have a good time together.
Q: Is the Easter Bunny real?
A: I have never really believed in the Easter Bunny, but I mean, who else could hide all the Easter eggs?
Q: If you could be a Disney character, who would you be and why?
A: This is a tough one. I LOVE Disney movies. If I had to pick, I would probably be Ariel, because who doesn’t want to be a mermaid!?
Q: What song best resembles your life?
A: “Happy” by Pharell Williams.
Q: If you were in Airband, what would your performance have been?
A: I would have done Frozen! I love love love the music.
Q: Secret talent nobody knows you have?
A: I don’t really know if this is a talent, but I can pretty much quote the entire movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas (not animated, the Jim Carrey version). Even though it is a Christmas movie, I watch it all year. One of my absolute favorite movies!
Q: What’s your dream getaway?
A: Australia
Q: What do you want to do after college?
A: After college, I want to move to the beach. I can’t take this Ohio weather any more!
Q: Where do you see yourself in ten years?
A: I see myself enjoying life as a physical therapist somewhere in the Carolinas and raising a family.
