Pedigree: This week’s Pioneer Focus goes to sophomore soccer player Christine Najjar. Najjar left it all out on the field to conclude the season. She scored both goals for the Pioneers leading them to a victory over Tiffin University November 1. Last season, Najjar led the team in most goals scored, and this season she finished second with 13.

Q: What brought you to Malone?
A: I was recruited by Josh, and my sister went here, and I wanted to play with her again. On top of that, I wanted to go to a Christian school, so it worked out.
Q: When did you start playing soccer?
A: When I was 5.
Q: What teammate do you admire most?
A: My sister, Amanda, because she always pushes me to exceed what I think I can do. She’s also always been a role model to me and she also encourages my relationship with Christ.
Q: What’s your favorite Thanksgiving dish?
A: Probably the turkey.
Q: Are you going to do any Black Friday shopping? If so, what are you going to get?
A: Yeah, I’ll go. I’ll probably look at some shoes. I like shoes
Q: Do you have any nicknames?
A: People call me “Crust” because I started saying Crust a lot.
Q: What’s your ethnicity?
A: Lebanese and Egyptian
Q: What’s your favorite memory of Malone soccer?
A: The last game of the season against Tiffin when I scored two headers in a game. I’ve never done that before.
Q: What teammate do you think would run for president?
A: Kari Naylor
Q: What advice would you give to a future soccer player here?
A: To never give up because anything can happen down to the last second of the game.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: Probably married with a couple kids and a good job.
