9/15 Volleyball defeats Cedarville in four sets

The Pioneers defeated the Yellow Jackets in an action packed four set triumph 25-18, 25-16, 13-25, 25-22. According to, “Senior Elizabeth Maczuzak led the way with 14 kills, 9 digs, 3 blocks and a team-leading .375 attack percentage. Freshman Cathryn Miller had 38 assists while fellow teammate Maggie Hammock chipped in with 13 digs.” The team is now 4-5 so far this season.

The Pioneers begin their conference play Friday, hosting Ohio Dominican at 7:00 P.M.

9/12 Flyer Festival proves difficult for team

The Pioneer volleyball team fell to Minnesota State and Maryville on Friday, September 11th at Lewis University’s Flyer Festival. The first game saw the Pioneers defeated in five hard-fought sets against Maryville University. The team was led by freshman outside hitter Mallory Adams with 15 kills. Freshman libero Maggie Hammock provided 24 digs and freshman setter Cathryn Miller contributed 38 assists. The two hour match was a hard-fought struggle.

The Pioneers lost three sets in the second match of the day against Minnesota State. Senior outside hitter Sarah Brent led the way with five kills, and junior middle hitter Haley Kool and freshman outside hitter Veronica Gehring each had four additional kills.
The team finished the tournament with a victory over University of Saint Francis and a loss to Lewis University. Junior defensive specialist Lynsey Trusty led the way with 12 digs against St. Francis. Freshman Cathryn Miller had 19 assists and eight digs in the day’s second game. Freshman Mallory Adams was awarded a place on the All-Tournament team.
The team is back in action at Tuesday, September 15 at 7 p.m. against Cedarville University.

HOF City Classic concluded
Malone volleyball split the day of home games. The team began the day with a fall to Edinboro in four sets. Games were close with scores of 25-22, 25-16, 23-25, and 25-16.
The team rallied to beat Concord in three games later that day. Junior middle hitter Haley Kool provided 12 kills in the match, and freshman middle hitter Mallory Adams added 11 kills. The ladies made a strong showing in all four games throughout the two day challenge.
The ladies return to the court against Maryville at Lewis University in the Flyer Classic.

NorthWest Missouri State downs Volleyball 3-0
In Malone’s second match of the day they played solid but ran into a very good team. Malone fell by the scores of 25-13,25-18,25-22. Back in action tomorrow against Edinboro.

Volleyball Tops Urbana 3-0
In an early Friday morning match Malone wins their season open in three exciting sets. The scores as follows 25-23,25-22,25-20. Three sets that were highly contested but Malone was a able to come out with the victory.
Notable Stats: Fr. DS Maggie Hamrock 10 digs, Sr. MH Elizabeth Maczuzak 8 digs, 9 kills and Sr. DS Heather Papp 8 digs. Fr. MH Mallory Adams 11 kills and 3 service aces
